Great to have Prof. Per Uhlén (Karolinska Institutet) visit the PKU campus for an afternoon of science with students — a round-table discussion around his talk, "Seeing is Believing: Exploring Whole-Brain RNA Transcripts in Three Dimensions."

The day after his seminar, the lab took Prof. Fernando D. Stefani out to the Great Wall for a day away from the microscopes.

Prof. Fernando D. Stefani — of CIBION–CONICET and the University of Buenos Aires — was invited to the National Biomedical Imaging Center, where he gave a talk titled "Fluorescence Nanoscopy and Single Molecule Tracking with True Nanometric Resolution: STED-FRET, MINFLUX and Other Ways."

The lab headed to Datong, in Shanxi, for a weekend away — the old city walls, its temples and grottoes, and a group photo dressed up as the local paper's front page.

Ahead of the Spring Festival, the whole lab came together for a New Year dinner — a warm evening of good food and good company to close out the year and welcome the one ahead.

The lab took part in the 3rd Sino–France Joint Meeting on BioImaging, held in Huairou, bringing together biomedical imaging groups from China and France.

The lab joined a reception at the French Embassy in China celebrating 30 years of CNRS — France's national centre for scientific research — in China, together with the ambassador and visiting scientists from France.

The students took a day off together for a trip to Universal Studios Beijing.

Our Leica SP8 FLIM confocal microscope being installed at the Huairou lab — another instrument online.

So good to have our friend Onur Dagliyan in Beijing — in town for the Huairou Forum, and around for dinner and good conversation.

Celebrating the national acceptance of the Multi-modal Cross-scale Biomedical Imaging Facility, in Huairou — the milestone that carries our work, and one that even featured on the national evening news. We are officially setting sail.

The lab presented at ChemoRevolution — "Chem Revolution: From Enabling Tools to Enlightening Discoveries" — with an oral talk from Bei Liu and posters from the students.

To celebrate the ending of spring semester and the first year of Liu lab, we organized a joint lab retreat with Xiaoshuai Huang lab. Lots of fun!

Congratulations to Peiyang and Jiaxin, who won the Best Poster Award at the Advanced Imaging for Cell Discovery meeting.

The lab travelled to Hefei, Anhui for the Advanced Imaging for Cell Discovery meeting.

To celebrate the beginning of the coming semester, the Liu lab went skiing and then HOTPOT afterward, together with other FOUR labs! Much fun. :))

We celebrated the New Year together with the Sun lab (Sun He). Looking forward to more collaborations ahead — and hot pot is always the students' first choice.

Our optical air table arrived just before New Year's Day — the groundwork for the microscopes to come.

What an event for Christmas! COVID is all behind us.

After a long wait, we finally received our first microscope - though a tiny one. There was lots of fun showing the students how to assemble a microscope from scratch. (The Olympus engineer couldn't come to campus...) Hope supply chains can return to normal soon...

The lab took part in the completion ceremony of the National Biomedical Imaging Center and the 2nd Huairou Forum.

The Liu Lab officially began on 8 August 2022. We set out to build next-generation imaging and genetic tools to understand the mysteries of life.
